Abstract

Chrysanthemum varietal evaluation based on morphological features on vegetative and reproductive characteristics was dedicated to provide relevant information for growers to plan the production process. For breeders, the information was needed as the basis on initial selection for further breeding activities.   The research was conducted under plastic house conditions at the experimental field of the Indonesian Ornamental Crops Research Institute (IOCRI) from April to August 2018. Twenty commercial cultivars of spray-type chrysanthemum were evaluated under plastic house conditions. Twenty spray type chrysanthemum cultivars had been evaluated for the morphological features on vegetative and reproductive organs.  The result showed that all tested cultivars showed different performances on plant height, ratio of leaf length : width, stem diameter and node length.  On reproductive organ, variations among genotypes were detected on flower diameter, stalk length, outer floret color before flower opening, inner floret color after flower opening and shape of floret tip. In terms of inflorescence form and type of flower head, 80% of the tested cultivars had corymbiform with semi double flower
